About SBC

The Brazilian Computing Society (Sociedade Brasileira de Computação – SBC) is a non-profit Scientific Society, founded in July 1978, which brings together students, professors, professionals, researchers, and enthusiasts in the field of Computing and Information Technology from all over the country.

SBC’s role is to promote access to information and culture through information technology, encourage digital inclusion, foster research and education in computing in Brazil, and contribute to the formation of computing professionals with social responsibility. 

For organizing and publicizing scientific, technical, educational, and political activities, actions, and events, SBC maintains a structure of three types of Thematic Groups (GT – Grupos Temáticos), which are the Major Areas (GA – Grandes Áreas), the Special Commissions (CE – Comissões Especiais), and the Interest Groups (GI – Grupos de Interesses). These groups bring together members with common interests in subfields of computing.

Sobre a SBC

A Sociedade Brasileira de Computação – SBC é uma Sociedade Científica sem fins lucrativos, fundada em julho de 1978, que reúne estudantes, professores, profissionais, pesquisadores e entusiastas da área da Computação e Informática de todo o país.

A SBC tem como função fomentar o acesso à informação e cultura por meio da informática, promover a inclusão digital, incentivar a pesquisa e o ensino em computação no Brasil, e contribuir para a formação do profissional da computação com responsabilidade social.

Para organização e divulgação de atividades, ações e eventos científicos, técnicos, educacionais e políticos, a SBC mantém uma estrutura de três tipos de Grupos Temáticos (GT), que são as Grandes Áreas (GA), as Comissões Especiais (CE) e os Grupos de Interesses (GI). Estes grupos reúnem associados com interesses comuns em subáreas da computação.
