CALL FOR PAPERS

The Brazilian Symposium on Bioinformatics (BSB) is an international conference covering all aspects of Bioinformatics and Computational and Systems Biology. The initial edition of BSB, in 2002, was called WOB (Workshop on Bioinformatics) and was indexed by DBLP. In 2004 WOB was renamed BSB and organized by the special interest group in Computational Biology (CE-BioComp) of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC).

BSB 2024 intends to attract participation from academic and industrial researchers, both in the exact sciences (computer science, mathematics, and statistics) and the life sciences (molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, medicine, microbiology, and others) to submit papers describing original work related to the topics indicated below. Accepted papers will be orally presented at the conference by one of the authors. Acceptance will be based on quality, relevance, and originality.

BSB 2024 Proceedings containing the accepted full and short papers will be published as a volume in the SBC-OpenLib (SOL) <https://sol.sbc.org.br> in its Bioinformatics series <https://sol.sbc.org.br/index.php/bsb>, from SBC. All proceedings papers will be Open Access and have their own Digital Object Identifier (DOI). This ensures that each paper is citable and easily accessible.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

The submissions should contain original, high quality, not submitted, or published-elsewhere work. All submissions must be in English.

The format to be used is “SBC template”. Authors should consult links below and use the proceedings templates, either for LaTeX or for Word, for the preparation of their papers. The submission must be in PDF format (maximum 20 Mb). LaTex or Word versions (on which the PDF must be based) will be required later, for accepted papers, for inclusion in the BSB 2024 proceedings. BSB encourages authors to include their ORCIDs in their papers.

CATEGORIES OF CONTRIBUTIONS

BSB 2024 will accept the following categories of contributions:

  • Full papers — up to 12 pages, SBC template, oral presentation
  • Short papers — up to 6 pages, SBC template, oral presentation

SUBMISSION POLICY

By submitting a full paper to BSB 2024, the authors agree that in case of acceptance, at least one author has to register to the conference and present the paper.

SUBMISSION

For full papers, manuscript length (including all figures, tables, and references) should not exceed 12 pages. For short papers, manuscript length (including all figures, tables, and references) should not exceed 6 pages.

Manuscripts that deviate significantly from these guidelines may risk rejection without consideration of scientific merit.

Full paper and short paper submissions will be done using the JEMS system (https://jems.sbc.org.br/bsb2024).
